Willix, Arpin Ladouceur, Lalonde Among Winners on Bank of Montreal Night at Cornwall Motor Speedway

Cornwall, ON – Sunday, June 8, 2025 – Martin Belanger – busy and exciting night of racing unfolded at Cornwall Motor Speedway on Bank of Montreal Night, with a full six-division program headlined by the first 2025 appearance of the Lightning Sprints. Fans were treated to seven features, including the June 1 makeup for the Novice Sportsman, and a thrilling night of action from start to finish.

In the JLB Heating and Cooling 358-Modifieds, it was Lance Willix who put on a dominant performance in the 35-lap feature. Willix led from the start, stretching his advantage early while Louie Jackson Jr. and Jackson Gill traded positions inside the top five. Gabriel Cyr made a move into third but later slowed, bringing out a caution near the halfway mark. Willix maintained the lead on the restart despite pressure from Jackson Jr. A dramatic final lap saw Jackson spin out while attempting a last-ditch pass, resulting in a green-white-checker finish. Willix took the win, with Jackson Gill and Corey Wheeler completing the podium.

The 25-lap Lightning Sprint feature brought plenty of excitement as Daniel Nadeau took the early lead before Xavier Lauzon surged to the front. After an early caution, Lauzon dominated until late-race lapped traffic caused trouble. Running high, Lauzon opened the door for Etienne Arpin, who seized the opportunity and secured the victory, with Jean-Christophe Bolduc rounding out the top three.

The Next Level Home Improvement Sportsman 25-lap event saw a strong run from Tristan Ladouceur, who led flag-to-flag to earn his first feature win at Cornwall. Donovan Lussier and Jeff Lapalme provided a challenge in the second half, with lapped traffic closing the gap, but Ladouceur remained calm and finished ahead of Lussier and Lapalme.

In the Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock division, Marc Lalonde powered past early leader Denis Gauvreau to take control of the race. Kevin Fetterly and Dave Seguin pushed hard after a late caution with 8 laps remaining, but Lalonde held firm to notch his first win of the 2025 season.

A full field of 22 Mini-Stocks took the green in the Rick’s Ranch Mini-Stock division, where Martin Bernard led early before Carl Gorry and then Travis Lamarche moved into the top spot. A red flag on lap 8 stopped the action as Kathy Pommainville ended up on her roof. On the restart, Lamarche took command, but Michael Beauregard tracked him down in the final laps and made a thrilling pass on the last lap to grab the win.

The night kicked off with the June 1st makeup feature in the Novice Sportsman class, where Garin Thompson drove a clean and consistent race, fending off several challenges from Bryan Tarbell to take home the win.

Looking ahead, another major night is scheduled next week as the DIRTcar Pro-Stock Series takes center stage. With nearly 40 competitors expected, fans won’t want to miss it. A full program is also scheduled, including a visit from the Eastern Ontario Vintage Stock Car Club.
