Cornwall, ON – Thursday, June 26, 2025 – Martin Belanger – One of the most anticipated events of the summer is finally here! The Super DIRTcar Big Block Modified Series makes its long-awaited return to Cornwall Motor Speedway this Sunday evening, June 29, with the running of the O’Canada 100 — a 100-lap feature event paying $10,000 to the winner. With over 40 competitors expected, this blockbuster event is set to attract some of the biggest names in dirt racing from across the Northeast.
The Super DIRTcar Series will bring nearly 20 full-time tour regulars to town, led by current series point leader Alex Yankowski. Hot on his heels are Mat Williamson, Erick Rudolph, Alex Payne, and Mike Mahaney, rounding out the current top five after six completed events.
Looking to climb back into the championship mix is 10-time series champion Matt Sheppard, who sits sixth in the standings. Quebec’s own Felix Roy, currently seventh, will look to make up ground in front of a home-province crowd. Other top contenders set to race include Anthony Perrego, Peter Britten, Jack Lehner, Tim Sears, Jimmy Phelps, Justin Stone, Darren Smith, Michael Trautschold, Matt Stangle, Marcus Dinkins, and Todd Root.
One of the biggest stories heading into the weekend is the confirmed entry of NASCAR Truck Series star Stewart Friesen. With three wins in four Super DIRTcar Series starts this season, Friesen will be a heavy favourite in Sunday’s O’Canada 100 and will also compete at Mohawk the following night.
A strong contingent of local talent will look to defend home turf, led by current Cornwall points leader Jackson Gill, who brings valuable big block experience. Also representing the local scene will be Ryan Stabler, Corey Wheeler, Carey Terrance, Brian MacDonald, Louie Jackson, the Ladouceur trio (Joey, Lee, and Brianna), Tristan and Kalen Draper, Gabriel and Justin Cyr, Mario Clair, Chris Ferguson, Gavin McFarlane, Robert Delormier, and Chantal Provencher.
Several invaders from Ontario, Quebec, and northern New York are also expected to join the field. Notable names include Corbin Millar, Luke Whitteker, Martin Pelletier, Michael Parent, William Racine, Samuel Charland, Steve Bernier, and Jarrett Herbison. Veteran star Tim Fuller is also slated to appear, adding even more star power to an already loaded lineup.
Joining the Big Block Modifieds on Sunday’s card will be the Farnham Ale Lager Pro-Stock Series, making the first of two scheduled appearances this season. Over 25 Pro-Stock cars are expected to compete in the 50-lap main event, with nearly 20 already pre-registered.
Fans will also witness the Mod-Lite division’s debut at Cornwall in a 25-lap feature, with a strong roster of 25 cars anticipated. The Next Level Home Improvement Sportsman division will round out the program, with potential invaders expected to challenge a deep and talented local field.
