Swiernik, Cyr, Lalonde, French, Sundborg and Clarke, winners at Cornwall Motor Speedway!!

Cornwall, Ont – Martin Belanger – Sunday, June 25, 2023 – Alexandria Home Hardware presented a very busy evening at Cornwall Motor Speedway as 149 cars registered in the pits as we welcomed back the Empire Super Sprints after a five-year absence.

Jason Barney took the early led in the 25-lap Empire Super Sprints feature as he pulled away from Dylan Swiernik with Jordan Poirier jumping to third by lap 7. Poirier was quick on the top side and passed Swiernik for second on lap 8 as caution was out for Chad Miller. On the restart, both Swiernik and Poirier passed Barney as both leader were side by side for the lead. Lap traffic became a factor as Swiernik pulled away from Poirier as Jeff Cook was in the mix as well. Swiernik crossed the flagstand first over Poirier and Cook.

In the 40-lap Clyde Sligner Pro-Stock Series, Burton Ward was quick right from the start and pulled away from Ian Bressette and Rock Aubin. Marc Lalonde was on the move and passed Aubin and then Bressette for second by the halfway point. Lap traffic became a factor as Lalonde was able to get closer to Ward with 10 laps to go. Jocelyn Roy moved to third on lap 33 by passing Bressette. Lalonde used a lap car to his advantage and grabbed the lead with 5 laps to go. Lalonde never looked back and got his 4th win of the season.

In the 25-lap Next Level Home Improvement Feature, Gabriel Cyr grabbed the lead over Tyler Givogue and Tristan Ladouceur. Cyr in front with William Racine making his way to the front as he takes third from Travis Bruno and then second from Givogue on lap 11. Cyr got with slower cars with 10 laps to go. Racine got too high in turn 2 and lost several positions as caution came out with 5 laps to go. Cyr led the final portion to capture a second win this season over Bruno and Tyler Givogue.

Nick Merkley in front during the special 25-lap Street-Stock event. Merkley led 2 laps as Nicolas Gauvreau passed him on lap 3 with Eric Robichaud moving up to second. Francis Gauthier brought caution on lap 8. Gauvreau remained in front with Tyler French in second. French used the inside lane and got the lead just before caution was out. French in front with Tommy Lizotte in second. French pulled away from the field and collected the win.

Eric Sundborg leads the way in the 25-lap Lightning Sprints Feature in front of Daniel Demers and Jeremy Lafleur. Issues for Demers who took his car in the pits on lap 9. Sundborg is within heavy traffic by halfway as Alex Therrien is now running in the top 3. Sundborg leads all 25 laps and wins the feature.

Marc-Andre Voyer was the early leader in the 20-lap Ricks Ranch Mini-Stock feature as Travis Lamarche was quicker and took the lead on lap 3. Caution was out on lap 7 for an accident in the backstretch. On the restart, James Clarke took the lead. Clarke was quick in front and went on to grab a second win this season.
