Cornwall, Ont – Friday, August 13, 2021 – Martin Bélanger – Archers Poultry will present a diverse night of racing as Cornwall Motor Speedway has 3 special events combined in the same night of racing this Sunday, August 15 with the Race for the Cure Sportsman Series, the Northeast Late Model Alliance and an invitational Street Stock event along with double features for Novice Sportsman and the 358-Modifieds.
The second round of the Race for the Cure Sportsman Series will share the spotlight on Sunday evening with a 50-lap event, a solid field of 34 drivers had gathered for round 1 in early July with Ryan Stabler topping the field over Cedric Gauvreau, Cody McPherson, Brad Rouse and Gilles Godard. Current points leader at the speedway, Stabler will be looking for another win this season as competition will be strong with a $10,000 points fund on the line courtesy of Steve Morris and TAS Racing.
The Northeast Late Model Alliance is back in action this weekend with their annual trip to Cornwall, Charlie Sandercock who already has 2 wins at Brighton in 2021 will lead a good field of cars which will mainly be regulars from the Brighton Speedway, Andrew Hennessy, Sam Pennachio, Brand Moway, Adam Turner, Phil Potts, Austin King and several others will be at the track.
The $750 to win Street Stock should attract cars from different tracks such as Brockville, Brighton, Merrittville in Ontario along with Maniwaki and St-Guillaume in Quebec, interest is high for this race. The 35-lap event should be really entertaining.
With his second win of the year last Sunday, Kyle Dingwall is now leading the way in the track championship with a 14-point lead over Carey Terrance who is looking for a fifth title. Brian McDonald, Corey Wheeler, Joey Ladouceur and Louie Jackson are still in contention for the title with 4 events still on the schedule. They will run a 40-lap feature.
A busy night for the Remorquage du Plateau Novice Sportsman as they will run double features. We will start the night with the July 25th remake and they will proceed with the August 15 program for the division.
General admission costs for adults is $25, kids between 6 and 17 years old, the cost will be $5 and kids 5 years and under, it is free to enter. Pit admission will be $40. Pit gates will open at 3pm with general admission opening at 5pm, practice and time trials will start at 6pm with heats schedule to begin at 6:30pm. We are still in phase 3 of the reopening plan in Ontario, meaning that you need to reserve your tickets on our website at www.cornwallspeedway.com. Our capacity is as 75% of our grandstand.
