Cornwall, Ont – Martin Belanger – Sunday, October 13, 2024 – It was the grand finale at Cornwall Motor Speedway with our big St-Lawrence Radiology 155 paying $15,555 along with Sportsman and Pro-Stock.
Kyle Dingwall took the early lead in the St-Lawrence Radiology 155 over Ryan Arbuthnot and Kevin Hamel. Caution was out lap 4 as Walter Hammond Jr was off in turn 2. Leaders got with heavy traffic by lap 15. Lap traffic was a factor as Arbuthnot took the lead over Dingwall. David Hebert was on the move as we not with the top 3 leaders on lap 35. Caution was out on lap 38 for Steve Bernier who had an issue with his car. On the restart, Arbuthnot still in front of David Hebert who moved to second with 10 laps to in the first portion of the event. Ryan Arbuthnot went on to win the first 55-lap portion of the event over David Hebert.
On the lap 56 restart, Jonathon Ferguson brought the field to green after drawing the pole during the 15-minute break. Ferguson led the way as Hebert was in second position and Corey Wheeler in third. Hebert took the lead on lap 65 using the inside lane in turn 3. The leaders were in heavy traffic as Wheeler took second with Mike Maresca in the top 3 by lap 75. Maresca had a strong run on the high lane and passed Hebert for the lead on lap 88. The feature had picked up some momentum as caution out on lap 129. On the restart, Maresca stayed in front as Hebert ran second with Carey Terrance and Felix Roy in battle for third. Maresca resisted to charges from Hebert and captured a second win this season.
Denis Gauvreau was the early leader in the 35-lap Pro-Stock feature over Daniel Desnoyers and Burton Ward. Jocelyn Roy used the outside lane and moved up to second with 9 laps in as caution was out on the following lap. Gauvreau had a good pace in front over Roy and Ward as they reached halfway point. Gauvreau led another 10 laps with caution coming out lap 25. Denis Gauvreau led the entire event to capture the win.
In the 40-lap Sportsman feature, an accident involving several cars occurred on the start, all cars were able to come back. On the second try, Jacob Nadeau took the lead over Karl Letendre and Brennan Moore. Caution was out from Adam Rozon on lap 5. On the restart, Bobby Herrington took the inside lane to take the lead over Nadeau with Moore in third. While Herrington had a strong run, in front, Gorden Clair moved to third and was challenging for the second spot. Herrington is a on mission pulling away from the rest of the field and went on to capture his second win of the weekend and fourth in Cornwall in 2024.
