Cornwall, Ont. – Sunday, September 6, 2026 – Martin Belanger — A huge crowd packed Cornwall Motor Speedway for Championship Night on Transport GNB Night as the speedway honoured the memory of Stéphane Lafrance with a special 115-lap Modified feature. The event was also part of the Fat Les Chip Stand Canadian Nationals and featured an impressive $11,500-to-win purse.
Jackson Takes $11,500 Stéphane Lafrance Memorial
William Racine led the opening laps of the Stéphane Lafrance Memorial before Brian McDonald moved into the lead on lap 9. McDonald quickly established himself as the driver to beat, while plenty of action unfolded behind him with Corey Wheeler and Ryan Stabler among those battling their way through the field.
McDonald had a strong car and controlled the race for a large portion of the 115-lap distance, but several hard-charging competitors began making their way toward the front. Tristan Draper entered the lead battle after the halfway point, setting up an exciting final portion of the event.
Draper made a bold move to take the lead from McDonald on lap 76, but a caution on lap 80 changed the complexion of the race. Draper was moved back to fourth after being penalized for an improper restart, putting McDonald back in command.
Another restart on lap 90 saw Corey Wheeler take the lead from McDonald. With the championship leader needing only a handful of laps to secure his fifth title, Louie Jackson was making his move at the front.
Jackson worked his way past the leaders and took command on lap 101. He would not relinquish the lead, leading the final 15 laps to capture his biggest victory of the season and the $11,500 top prize.
Wheeler finished fifth, which was enough to secure his fifth Cornwall Motor Speedway Modified championship, joining Carey Terrance at the top of the speedway’s all-time championship list.
Sharp Goes Wire-to-Wire; Lizotte Claims Pro-Stock Championship
In the Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock division, Dakota Sharp jumped out to the early lead over Tommy Lizotte and Dave Seguin.
Sharp led the first 16 laps before the caution flag appeared. On the restart, Sharp was once again quick off the line, maintaining the advantage over Lizotte and Tyler Bushey.
Sharp was perfect on the night, leading all 25 laps to capture his fourth feature victory of the season.
Despite finishing behind Sharp, Tommy Lizotte’s strong season was enough to earn him the 2026 Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock championship.
Moore Scores First Win; Nadeau Earns First Cornwall Championship
Brennan Moore led the entire Canadian Barge Builder Sportsman feature to capture his first victory of the season.
David Andre remained in the mix throughout the event and crossed the finish line second, with Jacob Nadeau completing the podium.
Nadeau’s third-place finish capped an impressive season as he secured his first Sportsman championship at Cornwall Motor Speedway.
Proulx Wins Again as Lamarche Captures Mini-Stock Title
The Ricks Ranch Mini-Stock feature was the final race of the night.
Christopher Proulx took control during the early stages, but Sebastien Raymond-Beauregard stayed close and eventually took the lead for several laps.
Beauregard’s night would take a turn when he encountered problems, allowing Proulx to regain the lead. Proulx went on to capture his third feature victory of the season.
Travis Lamarche finished fifth, which was more than enough to secure the 2026 Ricks Ranch Mini-Stock championship.
Lazore Scores First Novice Sportsman Win
The Fun Zone Party Inflatables Novice Sportsman division opened the feature portion of the evening.
Daylon Ezard grabbed the early lead as a three-way battle developed for second behind him. Ezard eventually experienced issues with his car, allowing Justin Lazore to move into the lead.
An accident on lap 9 brought out the caution, but Lazore remained in control following the restart and went on to capture his first feature victory of the 2026 season.
Fall Racing Season Begins Next Weekend
