Jacob Dykstra wins the Action Sprint Tour at Cornwall Motor Speedway !

Cornwall, Ont – Sunday, August 22, 2021 – Martin Bélanger –  BMO Bank of Montreal presented the Action Sprint Tour along with the Lightning Sprints, Modified, Sportsman and Pro-Stock, good car counts in every category on this hot Sunday night!

Jacob Dykstra to the lead in the Action Sprint Tour feature over Nick Sheridan and Jesse Costa. Dykstra was getting closer to lap traffic as Steven Roy flipped in turn 4 and red was out, Roy was ok. Dykstra back in the lead over Sheridan with Jeffrey Weare in third. The leaders in heavy traffic as Sheridan lost some ground on lap 15 with Weare moving to second and Eric Gleadhill in third. Gleadhill used slower cars to pass Weare for second with 3 laps to go. Dykstra never looked back and got the win, his fifth on the Action Sprint Tour this season.

In the 358-Modified feature, Johnathon Ferguson grabbed the lead on Joey Ladouceur and Luke Whitteker.  Ferguson had a strong run with Whitteker moving to second and Corey Wheeler joining the top 3 with 10 laps completed.  Caution was out on lap 14 for Tommy Jock. Whitteker to the lead on the restart with Wheeler moving to second. Yellow was out on lap 20. Whitteker in front with Chris Raabe moving up to third. The leaders got into lap traffic with 10 laps to go. Billy Cook hit the wall in the backstretch and caution was out with 7 laps to go. Great action for the lead as Wheeler was able to pass Whitteker for the lead. Wheeler never looked back and got his second win in a row.

Justin Lalancette and Dominick Merkley in battle for the lead in the 32-lap Next Level Home Improvement Sportsman. Lalancette on the high lane took the top spot on lap 7 with Samuel Charland following closely in third. Gavin Riddell hit the wall in front of the grandstand and caution was out on lap 8. On the restart, Lalancette had Samuel Charland as a dancing partner, Charland was able to pass Lalancette with Cedric Gauvreau moving third. Gauvreau was strong on top as he moved to second and set eyes on the leader by halfway point with Ryan Stabler and William Racine in the mix. Gauvreau took the lead just before the yellow came on lap 18. On the restart, Gauvreau was solid in front with Charland and Racine in battle for second. Charland and Gauvreau exchanged the top spot as Charland was back in front with 25 laps in the book. Charland led the final laps and got his first ever win at the speedway.

Jocelyn Roy to the lead in the Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock feature as he led the first 5 laps with Dave Seguin using the inside lane to move by Roy. Seguin pulled away from Roy with Marc Lalonde in a battle for third with Denis Gauvreau. Yellow was out lap 13 as Gauvreau spun in turn 2. On the restart, Seguin and Roy exchanged the lead with Lebrun now in third. Lalonde found something on the top side and moved to second. Lalonde made a final attempt but Seguin got his second win this season.

In the 25-lap Lightning Sprints, Stephane St-Laurent took the lead over Roland Pleau and Eric Sundborg. As St-Laurent built himself a comfortable lead, Tommy Moreau made some progress in the field passing Sundborg and Pleau to take second with 12 laps completed. Benjamin Malo spun in turn 2 and caution was out lap 16. St-Laurent to the lead with Moreau and Sundborg behind the leader. St-Laurent pulled away from the field with Maxime Foley taking third with 3 laps to go. St-Laurent led the whole feature to capture his first ever feature in his career at Cornwall.
