Cornwall, Ont – Martin Belanger – Sunday, July 9, 2023 – After a week off because of the inclement weather, Cornwall Motor Speedway was back with the Run what you Brung along with a complete race program presented by Rutters Elevators.
Brian McDonald took the early lead in the 50-lap Run what you Brung modified feature with Louie Jackson in second. Gage Morin was quicker and passed Jackson for second. McDonald put on a torrid pace as the feature quickly got to lap 20 with Morin and Johnathon Ferguson running in the top 3. Gavin MacFarlane brought the caution on lap 24. McDonald kept the lead as Stephane Lafrance moved to the top 4. Lafrance moved to third with 9 laps to go. Darryl Mitchell brought the caution with 4 laps to go. On the restart, Gage Morin got a great restart and took the lead and led the last laps and got the win!
In the 25-lap Next Level Home Improvement Sportsman, a good battle on the initial start between Justin Cyr and Shane Pecore with Cyr taking the lead with Josh Jock in third. William Racine had a good lane and took third on lap 10. Cyr got into heavy traffic in the final portion of the event as Racine passed Pecore for second with 2 laps to go. Cyr led the whole feature and grabbed his first ever feature over Racine and Pecore.
A good battle right from the start between Burton Ward and Marc Lalonde who exchanged the lead in the 25-lap Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock feature with Lalonde taking the lead with Jocelyn Roy in third. Lalonde led the way with Roy taking second over Ward. Lalonde led the final portion and got his 5th feature of the season.
James Clarke took the lead in the 20-lap Ricks Ranch Mini-Stock feature over Dan Cook as Antoine Dumouchel was now in third. Travis Lamarche did a rollover and red flag was out on lap 4. Clarke to the lead over Cook and Brandon McMillan in third. McMillan had the best car in the final portion of the race as he took the lead over Clarke with 4 laps to go. McMillan captured his first feature of the year over Clarke.
Trey Ladouceur was the early leader in the 20-lap Fun Zone Inflatables Novice Sportsman as Sylvain Dupuis was in second spot. Dupuis used the inside lane and passed Ladouceur for the lead as Marco McCarthy passed Ladouceur for second with 5 laps to go. Dupuis held off a charge from McCarthy and won the feature.
One of the big events of the season is next on the schedule as the Canadian Big Block Series will be in town with a 100-lap feature paying $10,000 to win along with a complete race program plus a 40-lap Sportsman feature and Mini-Stocks.

Gage Morin gets the Run what you brung win at Cornwall Motor Speedway!!

Brian McDonald took the early lead in the 50-lap Run what you Brung modified feature with Louie Jackson in second. Gage Morin was quicker and passed Jackson for second. McDonald put on a torrid pace as the feature quickly got to lap 20 with Morin and Johnathon Ferguson running in the top 3. Gavin MacFarlane brought the caution on lap 24. McDonald kept the lead as Stephane Lafrance moved to the top 4. Lafrance moved to third with 9 laps to go. Darryl Mitchell brought the caution with 4 laps to go. On the restart, Gage Morin got a great restart and took the lead and led the last laps and got the win!
