Cornwall, Ont – Martin Belanger – Friday, October 10, 2024 – Day 1 of the Canadian Super DIRT Weekend was presented with the final round of the Fat Les Chips Stand Canadian Nationals along with the Alexis Charbonneau Memorial and Sportsman.
The Fat Les Chips Stand Canadian Nationals 358-Modified Series was the first on track as Lee Ladouceur took the lead over Corey Wheeler. Both leaders pulled away from the field as they were getting to traffic, Joey Ladouceur slowed the field on lap 8. On the restart, Lee kept the lead over Wheeler and Louie Jackson Jr. Lap traffic became a factor with Jackson moving to second with 20 in the books. Ladouceur slowed in turn 2 and lost the lead at halfway point. Jackson was in the lead as caution was out for an accident in turn 2 on the following lap. Jackson in front of Gage Morin and Steve Bernier in third. Jackson and Morin in battle for the lead as Morin took the first with 2 laps to go and win the event.
The Alexis Charbonneau Memorial Feature was next as Josh Bogaard led the initial lap. Bogaard was in front of Carl Gorry as several cautions slowed the field in the first 15 laps. Mathieu Voghell was quick and was able to take the lead on lap 19 as Antoine Dumouchel moved to second and Anthony Laflamme moving to third. Dumouchel had a strong car and took the lead over on lap 36. Rain came in with 5 laps to go and the race was called with Dumouchel winning the event.
