Cornwall, Ont – Martin Belanger – Sunday, July 23, 2023 – Another great night of racing at Cornwall Motor Speedway with the Action Sprint Tour East and also the Race for the Cure Sportsman Series along with a complete race program sponsored by JLB Heating and Cooling.

Tyler Givogue took the lead in the 50-lap Race for the Cure Sportsman over Cedric Gauvreau and David Rogers. Givogue got into lap traffic on lap 8. Bobby Herrington took third on lap 10 as caution was out on the same lap. On restart, Herrington moved to second as the yellow was back on the following lap. Givogue in the lead with Herrington and Rogers in third. On a lap 15 restart, William Racine made his way from 4th and challenged Givogue for the lead. Yellow is back on lap 22. A good battle for the lead between Givogue and Racine as caution was out on lap 26. On the restart, Racine used the outside of the speedway and grabbed the lead over Givogue. As Racine pulled away, Gabriel Cyr moved to second with Donovan Lussier in third. An accident happened on the frontstretch, and Racine had nowhere to go, he was sent to back of the field with 16 laps to go. Cyr to the lead over Lussier and Fire Swamp. While Cyr led, Herrington came back to the top 3 by passing Swamp on lap 40. On a lap 41 restart, Lussier took the lead over Cyr. Lussier led the final laps to capture the win.

Corey Wheeler led the way in the 35-lap JLB Heating and Cooling 358-Modified feature over Ryan Stabler and Felix Roy.  Some good battles in front as Carey Terrance moved to second and challenged Wheeler for the lead with 15 laps in the books. The leaders ran well in the lap traffic as the top 3 were together with 5 laps to go. Wheeler led the whole event to win the feature as Roy surprised Terrance on the final lap to finish second. Wheeler captured his third win of 2023 at Cornwall.

In the Action Sprint Tour Feature, Mathieu Bardier took the lead over Jeffrey Weare and Lee Ladouceur, Weare used a lap car to pass Bardier for the lead on lap 4 as the caution came on the following lap. Weare set the pace over the rest of the field as he hit a lap car and did a 360 losing some laps as caution came out with 12 laps down. Bardier to the lead over Lee Ladouceur as both drivers were running close together.  Lap cars became a factor in the final laps as Ladouceur passed Bardier on the final circuit to capture the win.

The Novice Sportsman Fun Zone Inflatables was the final feature of the evening as Matthew Prunner was the early leader and led the way for the first 15 laps until a lap car slow Prunner and Marco McCarthy was the leader as yellow was out. On the restart, Dylan Moore took the lead and grabbed the win.
