Cornwall, Ont. – Saturday, October 3, 2026 – Martin Belanger — RaceFest Day 1 had a busy night of racing with a total of 10 features including the visit of the Action Sprint Tour and double features in the Mini-Stock and Mod-Lite divisions!
The Action Sprint Tour completed their season in Cornwall with a 25-lap event as Andrew Hennessy taking the lead for 2 laps as caution was out in turn 4. Hennessy back in the lead with Cameron Thomson and Brian Nanticoke. Bruno Richard was on the move in the last portion of the race passing both Nanticoke and Thomson with Hennessy taking the win over Richard and Thomson. Liam Martin was declared the 2026 Action Sprint Tour.
Yan Bussiere took the lead over his son Xavie in the 25-lap Midget STR feature, with Jacob Nault in third. Both Bussiere were side by side with Xavie taking the lead with Nault completing the lead pack. Caution was out on lap 10. Yan Bussiere back in front with Nault and Loik Messier behind the leader. Messier lost some ground with Yoan Nault joining the front 3 with 15 laps completed. Bussiere went on to lead the final laps to get the feature win over Jacob Nadeau and Carl Labonte.
In the 25-lap Lightning Sprints, Sabrina Blanchet took the early lead over David Daoust and Stephane St-Laurent. Lap traffic was a factor early with Daoust challenging Blanchet in these conditions. Daoust passed Blanchet for the lead on lap 19 as St-Laurent was still strong in third. Daoust went on to win his second consecutive feature over Blanche and St-Laurent.
Bruno Boivin took the early lead and led the initial 2 laps when caution was out. On the restart, Boivin first with Stephane Philippe and Nick Veilleux in third. Philippe was able to pass Boivin for first on lap 5. Boivin back in front at halfway point with Shawn Gregory making his way up to second with Philippe in third. Caution with 4 laps to go brought the field together. Boivin led the final laps to get the win.
The May 31 Mod-Lite remake feature was the first on the track with Martin Forcier being the early leader over Alan Carrier and Pierre-Olivier Trudel. Mathis Caron made his way to the top 3 with 6 laps in the books. Forcier got closer to the lap cars as caution was out for Caron with 10 laps to go. On the restart, Forcier and Carrier exchanging the top spot with Alex Forcier now in the lead mix. Alex Forcier made his way behind his dad with 20 laps completed. Martin Forcier went to lead the last laps to capture the feature.
In the second Mod-Lite feature, Alan Carrier took early lead with a hard charging Alex Forcier making his to the front row by lap 10. Forcier took the outside lane and took the lead over Carrier and J-F Leblanc in third at halfway point. Forcier had the best ride as he went to win the event after finishing second early in the day.
The final feature of the evening was the 25-lap Mini-Stock winners challenge with Travis Lamarche being the early leader with Antoine Dumouchel making his way to the front. Dominating run by Dumouchel leading all the final laps.
Bob Ray took the early lead in the Non-Winner Mini-Stock challenge. Caution was out on lap 5. Several cautions slowed the pace of the 25-lap event with Ray still first over Darryl Steele and Karl Lecuyer. Ray led all the laps and captured the event in front of Steele and Lecuyer.
The Eastern Ontario Vintage Club saw Ian Gordon taking the lead in the 20-lap event. Gordon had Josh Powers as a dancing partner. Both drivers maneuvered well in heavy traffic. Gordon led the whole event to capture the win in the 70-80 division with Greg Hale getting in the win in the 50-60 class.
Frederic Chabot leads the way in the Mini-Mod feature, as Jonathan Lapolice was strong and took on the lead and captured the feature with Elie Verville getting the Slighshot win.
Action returns tomorrow for Day 2 of RaceFest with the Sportsman joining the weekend replacing the Mini-Stock division.
