A month of August of racing diversity at Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont – Thursday, August 4, 2022 – Martin Belanger –  The month of August often means that the different championship races are coming to a close but it will also be a month where several different classes and events will visit Cornwall Motor Speedway!

August 7: Autograph Night, Lightning Sprints + Complete Program

After being cancelled on July 24, the popular Autograph night will have another try this Sunday evening along with a very busy night on the track with 6 classes in action with the Lightning Sprints in town along with a full show in our five events. Racing will start 30 minutes earlier with the first heat being scheduled for 6pm.

August 14: Late Models and Street Stocks

The Northeast Late Model Alliance will make their first of 3 stops in 2022 on August 14 as they are penciled in during the Canadian Super DIRT Weekend in October. The Street Stock are also scheduled on that Sunday with 25 laps along with the Modifieds, Sportsman and Mini-Stock.

August 21: Canadian Big Block Series and Action Sprint Tour

The final round of the Canadian Big Block Series will be done in Cornwall on the 21st with a 75-lap Big Block event paying $5,000 to win, the Action Sprint Tour is also on the card as we should get a great field of crate sprints for that night along with Pro-Stock and Mini-Stock.

August 28: Fan Appreciation Night

To conclude August, it will be Fan Appreciation night with several door prizes to win and some games at intermission for extra prizes. On track, the Eastern Ontario Vintage Club will be sharing the track with Modifieds, Sportsman, Novice and Pro-Stocks.

Track Championship: 2-car battles in most of the divisions

Looking at the different battles in our 4 regular divisions, one thing that all divisions have a in common is that 2 drivers in each are distancing themselves from the field. In the Picard Mobile Truck Repair 358-Modifieds, Chris Raabe has a slight 6 points edge over Corey Wheeler as Carey Terrance is still in the mix with 29 points behind. Shane Pecore is now the new leader in the Next Level Home Improvement Sportsman with 10 points over Ryan Stabler. With 4 wins so far in the Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock, Bruno Richard has the biggest lead in the 4 classes with 29 points over Marc Lalonde. Pierre Picard will need to continue his success and try to get away from Alexis Charbonneau in the Belair and Sons Garage Mini-Stock with only 9 points separating them.
