Cornwall, ON – Saturday, October 4, 2025 – Martin Belanger – Summer conditions greeted the 175 race teams on hand along with a good crowd for day 1 of the RaceFest sponsored by Surprenant Truck Shop.
In the Ricks Ranch Mini-Stock 35-lap Mini-Stock feature, Carl Gorry led the first lap as Antoine Dumouchel took the lead just before came out on lap 2. The feature event picked up some momentum as a good battle in between Dumouchel and Sebastien Raymond-Beauregard with Martin Bernard in third. Red flag came on lap 23 for Felix Lavictoire, he was ok. On the restart, Martin Bernard took the top spot. A good battle for the lead between Bernard and Dumouchel for the lead. Caution was out with 2 laps to go. On the restart, Dumouchel was able to pass Bernard in the last lap to capture the $1,000 check!
In the 25-lap Crate Sprints, Bruno Richard jumped to the lead over Jacob Dykstra and Jeffrey Weare. Yellow was out on lap 2. Richard back in the lead as Dykstra was able to pass Richard on lap 6. Dykstra pulled away as Lee Ladouceur challenged Richard for second and passed him with 10 laps down. Leaders got in lap traffic and Ladouceur pulled closed to Dykstra but it was not enough as Dykstra was able to get the feature win over Ladouceur and Andrew Hennessy.
Carl Labonte the early leader in the Midget STR feature event over Loik Messier and Jacob Nault. Labonte was the man of the hour in the event as he pulled away from the field as he led the caution free feature.
A lot of action in the 30-lap Mod-Lite feature as Charles-Antoine Bessette was the winner over Logan Carrier and Martin Forcier who was able to grab third in the final portion of the event. A first win for Bessette in Cornwall.
Xavier Lauzon had a rocket to kick off the Lightning Sprints feature quickly pulling away from Daniel Demers and Etienne Arpin. Caution was out on lap 6. Lauzon back in the lead over Arpin and Demers. Heavy traffic was a factor in the final portion as Keven Boucher Carrier made his way to second. Lauzon was the class of the field winning the event over Boucher Carrier and Arpin.
Steve Barber took the early lead in the 20-lap Eastern Ontario Vintage Club feature over Randy Gaudet. The leaders got into lap traffic by lap 8 as these conditions was a factor with Gaudet taking the lead on the following lap over Barber. Gaudet led the caution less feature and grabbed the win over Paul Billings and Joe Hilts won the 50-60 portion.
In the 25-lap Street Stock feature, Charles Marchand was the leader over Tommy Lizotte and Garren Taylor. A few cautions slowed the race in the early portion with Marchand e keeping the lead. Marchand resisted to charges from Lizotte and won the event.
Elie Verville led the whole 15-lap Slignshot event over Dereck Allard and Melodie Pulfer rounded out the top 3.
Billy Proulx took the lead in the Mini-Mod feature race. He was able to resist from charges from Jonathan Lapolice but Proulx won the featyre.
The RaceFest is back tomorrow for day 2 as the Sportsman will highlight the event as most of today’s categories will be back.
