Cornwall, Ont. – Sunday, August 30, 2026 – Martin Belanger — Mother Nature finally cooperated, allowing Cornwall Motor Speedway to complete its program on Co-Operators Night as the Battle on the Border 358-Modified and Sportsman Series wrapped up their championship seasons. The Battle for a Cure Mini-Stock Series was also on the card, with the 40-lap Ovide Doiron Memorial serving as the evening’s headline event.
McDonald Wins Ovide Doiron Memorial and Battle on the Border Finale
Louie Jackson Jr. led the field to the green in the 40-lap Ovide Doiron Memorial and Battle on the Border 358-Modified Series finale, with Brian McDonald settling into second and Ryan Stabler running third. Jackson maintained the top spot through the early stages, but traffic became a factor as the leaders caught the slower cars. McDonald took advantage, moving around Jackson to take the lead on lap 25. The first caution of the event came on lap 28 when Elliot Gamache and Gavin McFarlane were involved in an incident, bringing the field back together. On the restart, McDonald held onto the lead while Carey Terrance moved into second. McDonald remained in control through the closing laps to capture the Ovide Doiron Memorial victory and, in the process, secure the Battle on the Border 358-Modified Series championship.
Pecore Takes Sportsman Feature; Ladouceur Claims Series Championship
The Battle on the Border Sportsman Series feature saw Tristan Ladouceur take the early lead over Justin Desrosiers and Jeffrey Lapalme. Ladouceur appeared to have the car to beat, but traffic became an issue as he reached the slower cars. Difficulty working through the lap traffic allowed the challengers to close in, creating a three-way battle for the lead. Shane Pecore eventually made his move, taking the lead from Lapalme and sending Ladouceur back to third. Pecore went on to capture his first feature victory of the season, while Ladouceur secured the Battle on the Border Sportsman Series championship.
Sharp Scores Third Pro-Stock Win of the Season
Dakota Sharp led the Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock field to the green in the 25-lap feature. A lap-10 caution bunched the field back together, and on the restart, Jocelyn Roy moved into the lead over Sharp. Dave Seguin and Denis Gauvreau were also in the mix as the battle at the front intensified. The closing laps provided plenty of action, with Sharp and Roy exchanging the lead before Sharp regained control. Sharp went on to capture his third feature win of the 2026 season.
Proulx Wins Battle for a Cure Mini-Stock Feature
Marc Dagenais led the Battle for a Cure Mini-Stock field to the green, but quickly faded as Christopher Proulx moved into the lead, followed by CJ Lavair and Clayton Celovsky.Several cautions slowed the early portion of the event, but Proulx remained focused at the front. Travis Lamarche moved into third as the feature progressed, but Proulx maintained control and led the final laps to capture the Battle for a Cure Mini-Stock feature victory.
Daoust Tops Lightning Sprints
David Daoust was the driver to beat in the 25-lap Lightning Sprint feature, leading the majority of the event.Daoust held off Stephane St-Laurent and Sabrina Blanchet to capture the victory, with St-Laurent finishing second and Blanchet completing the podium.
Thompson Dominates Novice Sportsman Feature
Garin Thompson put together a dominant performance in the 20-lap Novice Sportsman feature, leading from start to finish to score his second feature victory of the season.
Nadeau Wins Sportsman Makeup Feature
The previously postponed August 9 Barge Builder Sportsman makeup feature was also completed Sunday evening. Jacob Nadeau grabbed the early lead over Brandon Beauregard and Jeff Lapalme. An incident on lap 5 brought out the caution, but Nadeau remained in control following the restart. Nadeau led the remainder of the feature to secure his fifth feature win of the season, with Jeff Lapalme finishing second and Shane Pecore rounding out the top three.
