Cornwall, Ont. – Thursday, May 14, 2026 – Martin Belanger — After a successful practice session on Tuesday evening with 50 competitors gathering to take on the speedway, we are now gearing up for a very spectacular season opener with the Spring Shootout 100 for the Super DIRTcar Big Block Series. The Sportsman with the Battle on the Border Series and the Mini-Stock with the Battle for a Cure will also be part of the card on Sunday evening.
The Super DIRTcar Series will make their first visit in Canada this Sunday being their 3rd event in the series, defending champion, Mat Williamson leads the way over Stewart Friesen and latest winner in the Series, Alex Yankowski rounding the top 3 in points. Local favourite Felix Roy will lead a group of regulars that includes Peter Britten, Jack Lehner, Jimmy Phelps, Mike Mahaney, Erick Rudolph, Matt Sheppard, Justin Stone, Alex Payne, Anthony Perrego, Tim Sears, Matt Stangle and Tanner Van Doren. Other expecting entries with a big block powered engine are Tim Fuller, Carey Terrance, David Hebert, Brian McDonald, Cedric Gauvreau, Steve Bernard, Dalton Slack, Paul Mancini, Ryan Krachun, Jackson Gill, Russell Morseman, Michael Parent, Samuel Charland and Martin Pelletier.
Being a show-up point event counting towards the JLB Heating and Cooling 358-Modified championship, our local stars will all be in attendance trying to qualify, defending track champion Corey Wheeler will lead the way with Ryan Stabler, Louie Jackson Jr, Joey Ladouceur, Gabriel and Justin Cyr, Gavin McFarlane, Kalen Draper and Chris Ferguson, expected to be in attendance as other invaders should include Mario Clair, Elliot Gamache, Tristan Draper, William Racine, Kyle Dingwall, Casey Swamp and Thomas Cook bringing the field to over 40 cars in attendance.
The Battle on the Border Sportsman Series will make his historic debut as well with a 35-lap feature paying $1,200 to win! Tristan Ladouceur was the quickest during the practice session last Tuesday will have some tough competition in Shane Pecore, Jacob Nadeau, Dylan and Brennan Moore, Jeffrey Lapalme are early favourites to capture the win, a field close to 30 competitors is expected!
The Mini-Stock showed their commitment again on practice session sporting the largest car count attendance of all divisions. The Battle for a Cure Mini-Stock Series begins as well with a 25-lap feature. The new series is boosting a $4,000 points fund and should attract the best talent from Quebec and Ontario for that event!
Racing is scheduled to start at 6pm for heat action, cars will be hitting the track at around 5:15pm for practice and qualifying. Pit area will open at 2pm with general admission opening at 4pm. General admission costs will be $50 with kids between 6 and 16 years old will be $10. The pit admission costs will be $55.
