Cornwall, ON – Sunday, June 22, 2025 – Martin Belanger – The Empire Super Sprints made their only appearance of the 2025 season at Cornwall Motor Speedway on Sunday night, thrilling fans with high-speed action as Transport GNB presented the evening’s program. A full slate of racing saw six divisions hit the track, including the debut of the Mini-Stock Weekend Warriors Series and the rescheduled June 1 Mini-Stock feature.
Jordan Poirier Powers to Empire Super Sprints Victory
The 25-lap Empire Super Sprints A-Main began with Dave Franek out front over Joe Trenca and Bryan Cloutier. Franek led the opening laps before an early caution slowed the pace. Once back to green, Jason Barney moved into third while Jordan Poirier began charging through the field. With 10 laps remaining, Poirier slid by both Trenca and Barney and set his sights on Franek. A decisive slide job in turn four on lap 16 put Poirier in control. He never looked back, pulling away to claim the win over Barney and Logan Cristafulli.
Gamache Breaks Through in Next Level Home Improvement Sportsman
Shane Pecore jumped out to the early lead in the 25-lap Sportsman feature, with Tristan Ladouceur and Elliot Gamache giving chase. Gamache took second on lap 4 and soon pressured Pecore as they navigated lapped traffic. A caution just past halfway allowed Gamache to pounce on the restart, taking over the top spot. Despite late pressure, Gamache held strong for his first win of the 2025 season. Pecore settled for second, with Ladouceur rounding out the podium.
Christopher Proulx Sweeps Mini-Stock Doubleheader
A busy night for the Mini-Stock class saw two features run, including the debut of the 25-lap Weekend Warriors Series and the remake of the June 1 program.
In the Weekend Warriors main event, Carl Gorry led early over Devon Kippen and Aidan Fletcher. Christopher Proulx quickly charged to the front, taking the lead by lap 4. A caution at the midway point bunched the field, but Proulx was untouchable on the restart. Despite pressure from Sebastien Raymond-Beauregard, Proulx completed a dominant run to win the first feature.
Later in the night, Proulx returned to action in the June 1 makeup race. Once again, he was in control from the drop of the green, pulling away from Martin Bernard and Gorry. A clean, caution-free run saw Proulx lead every lap to sweep the Mini-Stock features and claim his first two wins of 2025.
Pierre Hebert Surges Late to Win Midget STR Feature
The 20-lap Midget STR event saw Gabriel Richer lead early over Jacob Nault and Pierre Hebert. A caution at the halfway mark set up an exciting restart battle among the top three. Hebert used the high side to pass Nault and chase down Richer, ultimately taking the lead with three laps to go. Keven Hebert made a late charge to steal second from Nault as the checkered flew.
Nicolas Gauvreau Takes Street Stock Victory
In the 25-lap Street Stock feature, Tyler French led the opening circuits with Nicolas Gauvreau and Stephane Philippe in tow. Mid-race, French and Gauvreau traded the lead several times before Gauvreau sealed the deal with an outside pass with three laps to go. He went on to secure the win in an entertaining battle.
