Burton Ward captures the DIRTcar Pro-Stock Series at Cornwall Motor Speedway

Cornwall, ON – Sunday, June 15, 2025 – Martin Belanger – The DIRTcar Pro-Stock Series highlighted a busy evening of racing on Cooperators Night at Cornwall Motor Speedway, a lot of action on the speedway with 6 classes in action.

Marc Lalonde grabbed the early lead and went door-to-door with Ward in the opening laps, but mechanical issues forced Lalonde to the pits on lap 3, handing the top spot to Ward. Ian Bressett quickly charged to the front, taking advantage of the high groove to claim the lead on lap 7. Just one lap later, an incident in turn 4 slowed the field and bunched up the leaders. The action intensified on the restart as Bressett and Ward continued to battle, with Blayne Nichols joining the mix in a thrilling three-way fight through lapped traffic. Slower cars became a factor, and Ward was able to regain the lead on lap 28. With 15 laps to go, a spin by Devin Camenga in turn 4 brought out another caution. Ward remained composed through a series of late-race restarts, with Bressett holding steady in second and Jocelyn Roy climbing into third. As the laps wound down, Bruno Cyr mounted a late-race charge, powering his way into second place in the final circuits. Ward held on through the final laps to secure the victory and earn top honours in the first round of the 2025 DIRTcar Pro-Stock Series.

Brianna Ladouceur led the early laps of the 35-lap JLB Heating and Cooling 358-Modified feature until a caution on lap 6 brought the field back together. On the restart, Louie Jackson Jr. made a bold move on the high side to take over the top spot. Jackson Gill was charging early, taking second from Ladouceur before the halfway point. Jackson Jr. proved to be the class of the field, cruising to his first feature win of 2025, followed by Gill in second and Ladouceur rounding out the podium in third.

In the Next Level Home Improvement Sportsman feature, Donovan Lussier took command early over Dylan Moore and Eliott GamacheTristan Ladouceur worked his way into third and eventually passed Moore for second with 10 laps remaining. Lapped traffic played a role in the closing laps as Ladouceur pressured the leader, but a caution with 2 laps to go reset the field. Lussier held strong on the final restart to claim the win, with Ladouceur second and Shane Pecore completing the top three.

In the Eastern Ontario Vintage Club feature, Randy Gaudet led the opening laps over Ian Gordon and Chris Pryor. After a lap 3 restart, Josh Powers moved into second and pressured Gaudet in the closing laps, but Gaudet held his ground to win the 70s–80s class, while Xavier Perrin took top honors in the 50s–60s division.

In the Fun Zone Party Inflatables Novice Sportsman 15-lap feature, Daylon Ezard took the early lead, but Garin Thompson capitalized on a lap 4 restart to grab the top spot. Bryan Tarbell moved into second just before the halfway point as Thompson held on for the win.
