Cornwall, ON – Sunday, June 1, 2025 – Martin Belanger – After a two-week break due to inclement weather, racing action made an exciting return to Cornwall Motor Speedway on Sunday night, with Lamoureux Pumping proudly sponsoring the evening’s events. Nearly 140 cars filled the pit area for a packed night of competition, featuring the Ovide Doiron Memorial 40-lap race for the 358-Modified division, the opening round of the Fat Les Chip Stand Canadian Nationals, and the DIRTcar Sportsman Series in conjunction with the Lamoureux Sportsman Series. A full program was originally scheduled across all regular divisions.
In the headline event, it was Ryan Stabler who dominated the Ovide Doiron Memorial 40-lap feature, grabbing the early lead and never looking back. Stabler paced the field for the first six laps before a caution was brought out by Sam Charland. Second-place contender Tim Fuller encountered mechanical issues and was forced to the pits.
After a lap-7 caution, Stabler resumed the lead with Brian McDonald and Luke Whitteker close behind. A spirited battle between Stabler and McDonald thrilled fans as the two traded paint over several laps. Meanwhile, Mario Clair worked his way into the top three by the 12-lap mark. As Stabler extended his lead, both Clair and Felix Roy surged forward, creating an intense battle for podium positions. Traffic played a key role in the closing stages, but Stabler remained composed and strong out front, crossing the finish line to claim his first 358-Modified feature win. Mario Clair and Corey Wheeler completed the podium.
Unfortunately, persistent rain throughout the evening allowed only the 358-Modified feature to be completed. The remaining four feature events have been postponed and will be rescheduled later this season.
Racing resumes next Sunday at Cornwall Motor Speedway with the first-ever visit of the Lightning Sprints, accompanied by a full program across all regular divisions.
