Cornwall Motor Speedway 2025 season preview: Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock

Cornwall, ON – Sunday, April 20, 2025 – Martin Belanger – We are less than three weeks away from our 2025 season opener. We continue our season preview with the Alexandria Home Hardware Pro Stock division. Another solid season awaits the full-fender division, with several special events on the calendar.

Final lap for the defending champion

Marc Lalonde recently announced that 2025 will be his final season as a full-time competitor. He will not only retire from his work as a teacher, but he is also planning to hang up his helmet for good. Lalonde will want to finish on a high note by trying to capture a third consecutive championship. Backed by a solid race program that provides him with consistent finishes, Lalonde finished 51 points ahead of Kevin Fetterly last season.

Lalonde will need to bring his best again this year, as Fetterly, Jocelyn Roy, Jonathan Levesque, Rock Aubin, Burton Ward, Denis Gauvreau, Blayne Nichols, and Eric Jean-Louis are all returning to make a run for the championship. Former champion Dave Seguin is also returning full-time after making an appearance at the end of last season. Other drivers such as Marc Peladeau, Joel Renaud, Dan Desnoyers, and Ian Bressett will also be in the pits on a regular basis, aiming for a spot in the top 10. Another driver who returned in October was veteran Stephane Lebrun. We could see him complete more laps around Cornwall this summer. Adding Seguin and Lebrun to the mix will bring even more depth to an already talented field.

New Series and return of DIRTcar

A new series will replace the Clyde Slinger Series, as Pat Mulligan, along with Denis Gauvreau from Gauvreau Top-Soil and Mohawk Raceway, are teaming up to present the PM Promotions Pro Stock Series. It will feature three events in Cornwall and three in Mohawk, offering over $6,500 in points funds and bonuses. This new series will attract the best drivers from both tracks, as well as invaders from Quebec and Northern New York.

The DIRTcar Pro Stock Series will also return on June 15, bringing in several drivers from New York State. The Farnham Ale Lager Pro Stock Series will be featured on two dates, including two nights during the Canadian Super DIRT Weekend in October. In total, the Pro Stock division will run 15 times this season, with more than half of the calendar featuring special events!

A big year is expected and a lot of action as all the teams has put a lot of effort in preparing the best car possible for the season.
