2022 season gets underway this Sunday at Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont – Wednesday, May 11, 2022 – Martin Belanger –  An exciting and busy season starts this Sunday at Cornwall Motor Speedway, with most of the pandemic restrictions removed, race fans will be able to attend the races from Day 1 in 2022!

What to watch this season?

With championships starting this Sunday in all divisions, we can expect that Corey Wheeler in the Picard Mobile Truck Repair 358 Modifieds, Ryan Stabler in the Next Level Home Improvement Sportsman and Alexis Charbonneau in the Belair & Sons Garage Mini-Stock, will want to defend their title as we will see a new champion in the Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock.

While Wheeler wants to claim a third title in a row in the 358-Modifieds, he can expect some challenges from Kyle Dingwall, Carey Terrance, Brian McDonald, Chris Raabe, Joey and Lee Ladouceur, Luke Whitteker, Louie Jackson Jr. and others

The Sportsman will probably have the deepest talent pool since the return of the division in 2009, Ryan Stabler will lead the way but the return of 2019 champion Shane Pecore will shake things up. Gabriel Cyr, William Racine, Samuel Charland, Gilles Godard, Thomas Cook, Justin Lalancette, Tyler Givogue, Fire Swamp and Ricky Thompson are amongst drivers that will contend for the title.

It will be a different scenario in the Pro-Stock ranks with a new champion being crowned. Many newcomers will spice things up as Marc Lalonde, Denis Gauvreau, Rock Aubin and Eric Jean-Louis should be the frontrunners for the title.

In the Mini-Stock, Alexis Charbonneau will be to watch if he decides to call Cornwall home in 2022, the return of former division champion Marc Dagenais will bring another challenge along with returnees Marc-Andre Voyer, Pierre Picard and Skylar Ladouceur. Similar to the Pro-Stock, a good group of new drivers are joining the class this summer.

Even if no champions will be declared in the Fun Zone Party Inflatables Novice Sportsman, we can expect a good field of cars to compete in the dozen events on the schedule.

Expanded Fan Experience

With most of the pandemic behind us and fans back in the stand, we are expanding our Fan Experience with Meet and Greets every night behind turn 4 grandstand from general admission opening to the pit meeting, fans will be able to meet different drivers every night. Intermission will be busy with the return of sponsors such as Artist in Residence Distillerie, Ahoy Adventures, Mike Sauve Construction and others to be added, games for kids, prizes to win in trivias along with some new Cornwall Motor Speedway T-Shirts thrown in the stands and a chance to wave the green flag in the main feature event are part of the experience.

MyRacePass

Cornwall has joined My Race Pass this year, a web platform that will enable lineup, draws and will allow our race officials to gain efficiencies every night of racing. We invite race teams and fans to download the App called MyRacePass.
