2023 Season Preview Mini

2023 Season Preview : Rick’s Ranch Mini-Stock division !

Cornwall, Ont – Tuesday, April 18, 2023 – Martin Belanger – With about 1 month to go before the start of the 54th season at Cornwall Motor Speedway, we start the season preview for each division and the first one on tap will be the Rick’s Ranch Mini-Stock division.

With several high-quality returnees to the division, the 2023 season will be one of the most competitive for the Rick’s Ranch Mini-Stock. After making the jump to Pro-Stock, James Clarke and Brandon MacMillan, are returning to the Mini-Stock for the upcoming season along with former 2012 Mini-Stock champion Martin Bernard also making a comeback!

Before moving up to the full fender class, Clarke and MacMillan all had success in the Mini-Stock, Clarke was accumulating wins before getting an opportunity to move up as MacMillan was regularly in the top 5 runners.

Another driver making a return to competition this summer will be Bob Ray who will run the Pierre Picard ride that finished second to Alexis Charbonneau in the 2022 championship, Picard had surgery to his back and decided to give the wheel to Ray, the 2016 Mini-Stock champion will want to battle for the front positions in the field quite often with the other 3 returnees, but you cannot count out some of the other drivers such as Curtis Lindsay, Jordan McNaughton, Chris Cotton, the Lamarche brothers who will all want a share of the top prize on every occasion!

James Clarke has been working hard during the off season to collect sponsors and he was able to get nearly $1,500 that will be re-distributed in the purse during the summer events at Cornwall.

The new Eastern Ontario Mini-Stock Showdown that involves Cornwall and Brockville should attract several invaders at the two events scheduled on May 21 and September 3 in Cornwall with $1,500 in the points funds for that 4-race series.

Every feature is scheduled to have a minimum of 20 laps for regular nights if 12 or more competitors are registered for that given night, if less than twelve cars are in the pits, the feature will be reduced to 15 laps.

Many great battles are expected during the season in the Rick’s Ranch Mini-Stock division as a good mix of veterans and new faces will make for great events. Next week, we will preview the Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock division.
